As an important ritual architecture in the Western Zhou Dynasty, Lingtai is located in the Lingzhao area southwest of Xi'an today. Its form and function carry the early Chinese concept of worshipping heaven and cosmology. This article takes the Lingzhao Lingtai site as the core of research, combined with literature records and archaeological discoveries, to demonstrate that Lingtai is actually the origin of the later circular hill worship system. It clarifies the functional evolution of Lingtai from observing phenomena and timing, correcting calendars to worshiping heaven and gods, mobilizing for war, and rewarding meritorious officials. It reveals the historical status and cultural value of Lingtai as the origin of China's worship space, and provides theoretical reference for the study of Zongzhou culture and ancient Chinese ritual architecture.
