LI Bai (701-762), Venus by courtesy name and Green Lotus and Exiled Immortal by literary names, an excellent romantic poet in the Tang dynasty, has been praised as “God of Poetry”. According to New Book of Tang, Li descended from Emperor Xingsheng (i.e. Li Hao, Lord Martial Glare of Liang), and had the same ancestry with the royal family, the Li House in the Tang dynasty. He was hearty, generous, and keen on drinking, composing poems and making friends.
